Beyond the Search

Beyond Burnout

Electrical devices aren’t the only things that burn out. People and relationships do too, and often for the same reason - overload. In this digital age where we’re bombarded with multiple messages requiring instant action, we’re under pressure, with less time to do more. How do we survive in this? Beyond our busy lives there is a safety switch that guards against a blown brain-circuit and delivers real rest and peace.

Jesus, the Giver of Rest

Hebrews 1 and 2 focused on the enthronement of Jesus as the Ruler and Liberator of God’s people. Hebrews 3 and 4 introduce Jesus as the One who will provide rest for us. This progression makes sense once we remember that the Davidic covenant promised that God would give the promised king and his people “rest” from their enemies (2 Sam. 7:10, 11). This rest is available to us now that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God.

The Sabbath and the End

Every person on the earth belongs to the same family. We are brothers and sisters made by the same God. The Genesis story (Genesis 1 and 2) shows us how much we really are worth. What’s more, each one of us is special. There’s no one else who is an exact copy of you anywhere. You are worth so much to God that He was born as a human and died on the cross for you and your sins!
