The King’s Kids
More Time on the Clock
While Hezekiah is sick, God sends him a message by His prophet Isaiah, telling him he will soon die. Hezekiah prays, reminding God that he has been faithful. Then he weeps bitterly. God gives Isaiah another message for Hezekiah—that He had heard his prayer, had seen him weep, and would add fifteen years to his life. God promises to turn the shadow on the sundial of Ahaz ten degrees backward as a sign. God keeps His promise. Hezekiah recovers. The story comes from Isaiah 38.
